

Bernard Rives is a French sculptor, born in 1947 in Carcassonne. He studied at « Staatliche höhere fachschule fur photographie von Köln »in Cologne then moved to Barcelona where he began a career as an advertising photographer. During this period, he worked for well-known advertising agencies, such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis or even TBWA. Passionate about sculpture, he discovered this universe as a self-taught artist. His works quickly seduced the public but also professionals.
Bernard Rives's sculptures are very refined. The forms and curves are fluid and elegant, they highlight the beauty of gestures and movements. Women's bodies are often represented, magnified and depicted nude. His second favorite theme is the animal world. Elegant races, his sculptured animals are rarely static, but on the contrary, they are portrayed with energy.
Bernard Rives exhibits regularly in France and overseas. In 1983, he won the first prize at the Paul Ricard foundation, when he had just begun his career in sculpture.
