

Born in 1954, Deborah Cushman studied at UC Berkeley under the direction of Elmer Bischoff and Joan Brown, two of the founding members, along with Richard Diebenkorn, David Park and Nathan Oliveira, of the Bay Area Figurative School. She is a graduate of Columbia University and UC Berkeley.
A painter on the motif, her rural and urban landscapes of Sonoma County have won many awards and she has many collectors in the United States.
Her technique allows her to capture the changing and particular lights and atmospheres of Northern California, her touch and her approach as an exterior painter brings her closer to the Impressionists.
