For 15 years, Olivier de Sagazan has devoted himself entirely to the plastic arts, paintings, sculptures and performances. His work revolves around the question of the body. The question still remains to do battle with the human condition. Open the carcass, make the body speak, try by all means to wrest its mystery from it. Of his art, common sense will easily say that he is of a violent nature. However, art is not violence, is not violent. Rather, it is life which is violent, one should agree to say in being realistic. For, as everyone should know, the representation of a terrible thing, its imitation by art, is not the thing itself. So there can be no direct violence in art, in any case, no real violence on the body. The representation of the tortured, tortured, punctured body is not in itself the act of torture that we can see or believe represented.
