Rachael Dalzell's large dynamic paintings are inspired both by the natural world and by dramatic cityscapes. Ranging from London reflected in the Thames to the mountains of Ladakh to the coastlines, woods and wild flowers of Norfolk, she is inspired by how light plays on our surroundings with the change of day and change of season. Her paintings are as much about mood as they are of place.
Her use of colour and range of techniques creates works that are vibrant, bold and fresh with many elements, from soft hazy washes to the sharp fine lines that define the piece.
Rachael's work has recently been acquired for the new wing of Alderhey's children hospital and is hanging at the headquarters of the Clerical Medical corporation and in the foyer of the Medical Council of Ireland. She has previously been nominated for the Boundary Figurative Art Prize and is held in the collections of many private individuals. Dalzell studied fine art at the Wimbledon School of Art and continued to develop her drawing technique at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid as part of the European Erasmus programme.
