Vincent Ochs is a young French sculptor born on December 8, 1992, his studio is based in Perigueux.
In 2012, he contemplates a stonemason in a cloud of dust at the top of the spire of a cathedral, it is obvious, it is the beginning of his path of stone.
In 2013 he meets the work of the stone with the companions of the duty, participates in patrimonial building sites (Church Sainte Eulalie, Citadel of Blaye...). He quickly aspires to perfect his practice and master the gesture of the sculptor.
Admitted to the Academy of Arts in Avignon, he discovered the art of modeling and the beauty of serpentine. A new artistic horizon takes shape, it is then that the work of the stone leads him to his creations around the imaginary and its abstract forms.
Paths of stones
Vincent Ochs sculpts serpentine from Zimbabwe in direct cut, listening to the stone which imposes its own form. He is currently exploring curves, voids and interlacing in aerial works. The sculptor's gesture is between violence and meticulousness, he removes the material to find the imagined form.
He is inspired by the raw stone to sculpt in the mass. He looks for the most refined form that the original block contained, to reveal what it can have of air and dynamics. He sculpts fragile forms in a particularly dense and resistant material.
